My top three goals
My top three goals upon starting the 6-month program were:
- Was to lower my A1C
- To eat healthier
- To get more active and lose weight
My coach was able to help me work toward these goals by encouraging me and letting me know that it is ok not to have all the answers. She helped me to understand that Diabetes doesn’t control who I am and that my fate is not sealed. Sharon showed me that I am in control and that Diabetes is a curable disease. You just need the right tools to get to a healthy outcome.
The biggest tangible change I have noticed since beginning the program has been: I am much more aware of how I eat and how food affect my sugar levels and that it is ok to eat something sweet just as long as it is small and in moderation. The most significant overall change I have noticed has been less stress about the diabetes. To take it one day at a time and not worry so much about the disease but focus on little changes that will help my body for the journey.
I would describe my coach as kind, gentle, loving and knowledgeable and would recommend my coach to anyone who suffers from uncontrolled diabetes. Sharon is a great coach. She not only focuses on the eating issues but also focuses on how people feel mentally about their disease. She is so approachable and always willing to help even when she is off the clock.
